Beekeeping – A Taster

This practical, hands-on course will cover:

  • working safely with bees
  • how a bee-colony survives, and how to help them live at your place
  • what’s inside a bee-hive: we’ll open some living hives and look around inside
  • bee diseases and pests, and how to deal with them
  • how to extract your own honey, and
  • useful bee books & bee equipment, and where to get them.

This is what you’ll get:

  • confidence that you can easily look after your own hive (or two)
  • a basic understanding of how to keep bees safely
  • some honey that you’ve extracted yourself
  • the ability to contact Michael and ask as many bee-questions as you like.

When: Sunday 19 November 2017, 9.30am-1.00pm.

Where:  Fosterton Biodynamic Farm, 792 Fosterton Rd Dungog (a few km out of town).

Cost:  $125.00

Number of participants:  15 only. Booking essential.
